ABOUT THE ARTIST

       Vibrant colors of oil paint are dominant in Jerry's work. Notably known for his island seascapes. Hawaii's natural beauty and culture are his subject in whole. Jerry mostly paints from memory and imagination. Composing clips from his mind, transferring it onto canvas. First, he begins by prepping each canvas with a multilayer gesso coat. Then he applies his first, second, and third layers of oil paints. Lastly, he glazes the painting in dedicated areas, finishing off with a varnish. The results are a beautiful luminous oil painting. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, growing up as a child he was naturally inclined to drawing and art. He dabbled in many different media, oil painting being his first love. His first introduction to oil painting was a Bob Ross kit. In the 90's he studied oil painting with several North Shore artists. He attended the University of Hawaii Leeward Community College studying art history and styles. Today Jerry is mostly self taught. He is always learning, experimenting , and applying innovative techniques to his work. Oil painting for almost 20 years, Jerry continues a passionate pursuit to transcend his work to the next level.
